Thank You, Kosmos
16x40. Acrylic and Ink.
Local legend tells how Kosmos Spoetzel, the original brewmaster here in Shiner, used to take walks around the farms. He would leave cold beers for the farmers working out in their fields. This captures both the heat of a Texan summer day, and the beauty of such a gesture. Guerilla marketing at its finest.

Shiner Tower
24 x 20. Acrylic and Ink on Wood.
The newest piece in the Water Tower series. Inspired by the hometown colors and surroundings here in Shiner, TX.

Radiance.
36 x 48. Acrylic.
My attempt at using a pallet knife, although my pallet knife was made from a 2x4. My attempt was to illustrate the power of light to overcome darkness. We all need radiance within us.

Buffalo 8
The mighty buffalo has been featured in many of my pieces recently. There is something about this mighty creature that captivates me. When working with silhouettes, you look for subjects with texture and recognizable forms. The buffalo has both.
30 x 24. Acrylic and ink
Available.
Phasing

This piece, from the Water Tower series, features the tower in Marfa, TX.

Texas Flag #1
24 x 36. Acrylic.
Flags are interesting things to me. The colors carry meaning, but not the whole story. This flag represents the messiness that comes with defending a territory, forming a nation, and marching towards statehood.
Owned. Commissions on addtional flags available.
When the Levee Breaks
36 x 48. Alcohol Ink.
Inspired by the Led Zeppelin classic, I attempted to capture Bonham’s intense intro and the relentless rains.
Owned.
Thunder Rolls
16 x 20. Alcohol Ink, Acrylic, India Ink.
I was driving home between Alvord and Wichita Falls. Somewhere around Bowie, I was caught in a tumultuous storm, which I would later learn had been a tornado. Destruction and fear peppered with beautiful lightning.
Owned.
Irish Flag #7
16 x 20. Acrylic.
Another in the Flag Series, this piece retells the story of the Irish flag. The green represents the Catholic population, and the orange the Protestants. The white is the peace, here a very messy peace, that exists between the two groups.
Owned. Commissions on addtional flags available.
Firebird.
16 x 20. Acrylic.
This is a 3 strike piece, inspired by the colors used in costumes and the movement of the dancers of Stravinsky’s ballet.
Available.
Spirits Surround
22 x 28. Acrylic, Alcohol Ink, India Ink.
From the Buffalo series. This piece speaks of the spirits always present.
Owned.
Emergent Themes
30 x 48. Acrylic.
This piece represents the overwhelming nature of research. With each new bit of information, the whole looks more confusing, until one takes a step back to discover the themes that arise from the seeming chaos.
Available.
Ready to Run.
18 x 28. Acrylic, Alcohol Ink, India Ink.
Inspired by the southwestern landscape, this piece captures the heat and the beauty of the desert.

The Old Tower

Beauty exists everywhere, even in the old and unused.

Rise of Poppies.
22 x 28. Alcohol ink.
An exploration of textures, using different techniques and alcohol ink. My goal was a flower covered hillside (though my wife only seems to see an operating room.)
Owned.
On Shaky Ground.
24 x 36. Acrylic.
This piece emulates the first few steps in new territory- a new job, a new location, a new mindset. It can be destabilizing, but also exhilarating.
Owned.
The Dancers
14 x 18. Acrylic and Acrylic ink.
A study in motion- the flow of liquid mirroring the flow of dance.
Owned (by an up-and-coming ballerina)
A Mere Shadow.

Inspired by Peter Pan, this piece captures the whimsy of youth. Painted using a live model.
